OIC Entrepreneurs Conference Kicks Off in Istanbul to Empower Youth-Led Startups and Economic Growth

The OIC Entrepreneurs Conference has begun  3 June, 2026, in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye. The Conference was organised by the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Youth and Sports of the Republic of Türkiye, as well as the Investment and Finance Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye.

His Excellency Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the OIC, in his message at the Opening Ceremony, delivered by Mr Naghi Jabbarov, Director-General of the Department of Economic Affairs, stated that youth-led startups and businesses can create jobs, generate wealth, and contribute to a diversified economy, reducing dependence on traditional industries. In this regard, the Secretary-General indicated that policymakers may design and promote youth entrepreneurship that can help to sustain growing economies, integrate the workforce, and support overall societal development. In addition, access to funding is equally important for the success of young entrepreneurs. H.E. Mr Taha stated that governments and financial institutions should collaborate in establishing youth-focused microcredit institutions and expand access to affordable financing, grants, startup funds, and investment opportunities.

The conference commenced with opening remarks from several high-level officials during the inaugural ceremony. The two-day event has convened a diverse assembly of participants, including public- and private-sector representatives, young entrepreneurs, academics, industry experts, OIC institutions, and international organisations. The OIC Entrepreneurs Conference is scheduled to conclude tomorrow, 4 June 2026.
