The OIC General Secretariat will hold a meeting for the Open-ended Intergovernmental Expert Group to discuss the OIC draft strategy to empower marriage and family institution and preserve its values in the Islamic world on 1-2/10/2019, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat. The said meeting will be held in the framework of the implementation of the resolutions of 1st Ministerial Conference on Marriage and Family Institution, which was held in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in 2017, and the resolutions of the 46th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers, held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on the preparation of the strategy.

Representatives of National Institutions concerned with the empowerment of marriage and family institution and preserving its values in the OIC Member States, will participate in the meeting alongside OIC partner organizations in this area.

The meeting is expected to reach recommendations and solutions to multi-dimensional challenges threatening the concept of the marriage and family institution and values in this area. The meeting will also consider means to promote the role of the family in the promotion of development in Member States.
